Junior Development
As a club, it is crucial to recognise and support the development of junior cyclists within our community.
Junior cyclists represent the future of our sport and investing in their growth and success is not only beneficial for them as individuals, but also for the overall growth and sustainability of our club.

Cultivating a passion for cycling
One of the key reasons why supporting junior cyclists is so important is that it helps to cultivate a love and passion for cycling at a young age.
By providing opportunities for junior cyclists to participate in club rides, races, and social events, we are helping to nurture their interest in the sport and instill a sense of dedication and commitment. This early exposure to cycling can have a lasting impact on their physical and mental well-being, as well as their overall development as individuals.
Supporting junior cyclists within our club helps to foster a sense of community and camaraderie among members of all ages. Junior cyclists bring a unique energy and enthusiasm to our club, and their presence can help to inspire and motivate riders of all levels.
At Cranks, we aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for junior cyclists.
Forging friendships
We are not only encouraging their growth and development, but also strengthening the bonds that unite us as a club which has a positive impact on the overall success and reputation.

Fostering growth
As a club we recognise that junior cyclists face unique challenges and obstacles as they navigate their cycling journey and access to inclusion in clubs can be difficult. By offering mentorship, informal coaching, and guidance to junior cyclists in our club, we can help them grow as individuals and reach their full potential.
The club has clear policies and procedures in place which can be accessed here outlining the individual responsibilities of riding and leading with a junior in the group.

Investing in the future
In Cranks we are not just interested in developing future champions (though we have several in our midst), but also about fostering a love for cycling that will last a lifetime.
By investing in the growth and success of junior cyclists within our club, we are not only shaping the future of our sport, but also creating a positive and welcoming community for cyclists of all ages and abilities.
In practical terms, our registration with BC allows us to accept riders aged 15 and above on club activities though younger riders can become club members.
Membership is free for all juniors with the exception of the mandatory BC £1 surcharge! We will always look to support a junior rider with an experienced ride leader. Parental/guardian consent will be required before accepting a junior on a club ride and up to date emergency contact details prior to departing.
